The Dominican Baseball Organization for Kids

The mission of this organization is to help kids in poverty throughout the Dominican Republic to be put in a position to succeed and avoid falling into the wrong behavior.

I am very passionate about the work this organization will do because I have had a first hand experience of the environment these kids are in. During a baseball tournament and mission trip to the country, I saw the way these kids live and the help they need. The Dominican Republic is plagued by poverty and leads many kids into a violent environment. We look to provide these kids with a way to escape and have the ability to succeed later in life. For many boys in the Dominican Republic the only way to get out is through baseball. When the kids turn sixteen they are put in an all in one facility, where they go to school, sleep, and play baseball. We want to create a system somewhat like this, but for kids of a younger age and in a more fun environment. Although the baseball aspect only helps the boys in the long run, we want to create a program for the girls to learn about the organizations in baseball and give them a chance to succeed through that route, while giving them a fun place to go. The Dominican Baseball Organization for Kids is unique because it gives these kids a place to go that will benefit them in the future. It will also provide jobs to those in the area that are seeking employment. AMDP should support my organization because it targets the social responsibility aspect they are looking for. By providing funding to such an impoverished area and increasing employment, The Dominican Baseball Organization for Kids will do many great things for their community both socially and economically.
